2010 - CISV Year of Diversity
Diversity and profile raising In the last Update, we said we would talk a little more about using Diversity to raise your profile. Watch here to see Denise explain some of the benefits of using our focus on Diversity to reach a wider audience of potential participants, volunteers and supporters. Design for Diversity Feeling creative? We want your poster designs for 2010-CISV Year of Diversity! We’ve come up with the one below, which will be used as a backdrop at our regional training, but we know you can do better! Email your posters to us by 1 June and we will display them all in the Library and ask you to vote for your favourite. The design that wins most votes will provide the Diversity backdrop at AIM this year. (If you want to use this poster at your training, just click on the poster and download the pdf)
Taking Diversity to your training We're hoping to have a big focus on Diversity at all training this year - and we all have a part to play. So, why not take something related to Diversity – a newspaper article, a drawing, a photograph, details of an event (or anything else you can think of) - with you for sharing and discussion. The items you take will be used to make a Diversity display. Take photographs of your displays, send them to us and we will upload them on the Library and they will be put on show at AIM. Useful links and news As an example of something you might like to take to your training, Arthur Carvalho, CISV Brazil recommends this thought-provoking article that appeared in the Financial Times on 1 March. UNESCO invites you to participate in an Online Photo Exhibition for the celebration of the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures. March 21 International Day for Elimination of Racial Discrimination - Judy Coates of CISV Fredericton Chapter, Canada, tells us they will be setting up a display about CISV at a locally-organized Multicultural Festival . What will you be doing? Building on last year's launch of PLURAL+, a youth video festival on migration, diversity and social inclusion, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the International Organization for Migration are inviting submissions of videos on these issues. The deadline is 30 June. Oxfam have a wonderful diversity of resources relating to the Millennium Development Goals. Have a look, get inspired and why not adapt some of the activities using our activity writing template. What could be more fun! And, finally.. Thank you for the many lovely and positive comments that we’ve received from you about Update. We‘re very pleased you like it! Update will now be coming to you monthly; look out for the next issue 20 April 2010. This next Update will feature CISV Norway.
